Aviation Science is a 2 year CTE program. The first year of the program is foundational for unmanned aviation. Topics include: pre-flight procedures, airspace, aviation phraseology, regulations, aviation safety, weather, and emergency procedures. Instruction is provided in small unmanned aircraft performance, ethics, human factors, aeronautical decision-making and judgment, safety protocols, weight and balance, maintenance, aviation weather sources and effects of weather (micro-meteorology) on small unmanned aircraft performance, small unmanned aircraft loading and performance, emergency procedures, crew resource management, and preflight inspection procedures. Students will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on flight simulation and drone piloting exercises, as well as multiple practice examinations in preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration's Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test.
The Aviation Science program is perfect for students who are passionate about aviation, drone technology, and/or engineering, and those who many what to pursue a future career in aerospace engineering and/or drone operations.
